A statement made by the creators are, "Even if you can’t escape a situation, by re-framing your emotions about it, you can transform it." Many things can be found boring, such as waiting in the doctors office, sitting in class, doing grocery shopping, or watching a bad sitcom/commercial.
One of the seven tips is to put the word 'meditation' after the activity that’s boring you. For example, "doctors office waiting meditation", or " in class sitting meditation". Just saying it should make it you feel very spiritual and high-minded and wise. And then that should keep you from being so boring.
Second, “The Chinese have a theory that you pass through boredom into fascination and I think it’s true.” If something is boring to you for two minutes, double that time and continue the activity. And if after that doubling its still boring double it again. Keep doubling the time until the activity or process your engaged in isn't so boring.
Third is to take the perspective of a journalist or scientist. Study surroundings. Be observant and expressing your "powers" and capability almost anything can become interesting.
Fourth is to find an area of refuge. In your mind plan out an escape plan. Think of something to let your mind float away, find your place/way of release. Look at memory photos, or do something that enjoys you.
Fifth is to look for a way to feel grateful. Look at the situation and think 'what if' you were in a worse scenario, or if there was an outcome and results were not as good.
Sixth is to consider to 'Are you the boring one?'. " La Rochefoucauld observed, 'We always get bored with those whom we bore.' I remind myself of this when I’m having a boring conversation with someone!"
Seventh is always bring a book! Honestly a book can be a way to escape from boring events. While reading a book you can imagine yourself as the character going through all types of adventures.
This article for me is informative and helpful. I think that anyone that get bored easily as I do will find this extremely helpful and useful in situations they could be placed in.
